March Ambassadors' Spotlight

Hello friends,

This month Ambassadors' Spotlight is held by Nuneka and the theme is "Art Ingredients (glitter, flakes, crystal glitter, beads, micro beads, art pebbles...)". Our talented Brand Ambassadors: Karolina Bukowska and Riikka Kovasin prepared projects to share them with you.

Hi there! It’s Nuneka here. If you have seen any of projects before, you know how much I like sparkly stuff… so when we were asked for a topic to put in the Spotlight, I had it clear: Art Ingredients!! Because you can change the entire work with just a pinch of any of them.

But I also like to get things to the extreme sometimes, so I thought to myself what if I create a project that apparently is not going to match with glitter, mica flakes or microbeads… and you know what? It was impossible! I mean, if you don’t add too much, this kind of elements are going to give you the right sparkle to attract the eye to certain spots. Who would have said they would work so well with tiny bird skulls and pipes??

On this project I couldn’t help it and I used all the Art Ingredients I had in colors that would match with the piece: mica flakes, micro beads, crystal glitter and glitter. But, and this is very important, I added just tiny bits of them here and there. So try!! Don’t be afraid because these are the little things that make the big difference.

As you can see, I used quite some few of the new moulds, one of my favorite stencils and liquid acrylics for coloring.

Hi ! It's time for some spring colors and shine!

I love all the Finnabair sprinkles.

They gave my design a wonderful texture and glow.

I applied a modeling paste and Texture Past, thanks to which I obtained a wonderful texture. I glued a cardboard and compositions with wonderful new casts. I am in love with them!

I love Liquid Acrylic. They are wonderful and have amazing colors!

You can see the entire creation process on the video.

Under the deep sea

Oh, how I enjoyed making this piece! It’s kind of going to my comfort zone as I played with Black Gesso and tones of blue. This time I wasn’t going for night sky -look, though, but instead thought about the deep sea – the velvety depths far beneath the surface.

I started the piece by painting the wooden seahorse using Black Gesso, then made the composition using a myriad of Mechanicals and 3D Gloss Gel – my go to adhesive for assemblages. I prefer it over Heavy Body Medium somehow. I guess it’s got to do with my way of applying the gel; I often use my fingers and 3D Gel is easier to apply that way than the Heavy Body Medium. After the gel had dried I added several hues of blue on top and also mixed one shiny paint of my own using Soft Gloss Gel and “Pale Silver” Mica powder.

I finished my dark marine creature with several different Art Ingredients. The first Ingredient was the Mica powder, but then I added more shine and sparkle using Art Pebbles, Glass Glitter and two sizes of Beads. I really like the variety in the Ingredients, there’s different finishes, different sizes and almost a product for every need! My favorite way is to combine the different grain sizes, starting with the biggest and going to the smallest so the smaller ones fill in the gaps that might be left with the bigger ones.
