Working in Full Size - "Flaming Heart" Triptych Class

Hi again my dear friends!
I've just got back home from my big, fat USA-Canada tour and I'm filling my time with sleeping, fighting the jetlag, enjoying the company of my husband and my furry friends... it may take me while to get back on the usual tracks, but I promise to do my best!
My trip - as always - was full of inspiration, quality time spent with my students and visiting places: I was lucky to visit some of the stores I knew and loved - and make some new friends in new places. I hope I will be able to visit them again!

Today I've got a project which is my first ever full day collage class: "Flaming Heart" - triptych build on popular sized canvases, with loads of textures, elements and colour!

Working on full-size project in the classroom is a bit different experience to the regular classes. You have more time to think on the layers you are building, elements you are incorporating, color scheme, balance... Many students truly enjoy "sinking into" the project for a longer, taking their time building the project step-by-step.

Bigger canvas means more elements to collage together, more techniques... and more space to paint - which is an excellent chance to practice spraying, highlighting, balancing with colour, filling the space with your favourite shades and tones. There is always something more to add, something to focus on, some detail to master...

... and in the end you have an amazing piece of art (3x 9x12'' canvases!) which you can proudly put on your wall and admire. What can be better?

I had a pleasure to teach this class in 2 stores this time - at "Queen's Ink" in Maryland and at "Whim So Doodle in Florida. Oh, we had so much fun! Here you can see some of the peeks at my finished projects - I hope you are a bit inspired!

Sometimes I like to create just for the sake of it.
I don't need a special reason or a particular idea in mind, the point is - the pure joy of creating.
This was the case with today's canvas - I simply let go and immersed myself in the world of blue. ;)

Zapraszając Wiatr - Inviting the Wind - mixedmedia collage

Po raz drugi pokazuję Wam to, co żywcem wyszło z mojej głowy - twór ten domagał się materializacji dość natarczywie, jasno dając do zrozumienia, że już czas najwyższy. Byłam pewna kolorystyki, byłam pewna kompozycji - nawet zdjęcie zostało pieczołowicie dobrane do koncepcji, która dojrzewała  i pod czaszką. Najbardziej obawiałam się oczywiście "dziury" - lub jak wolicie "okna" które stanowić miało jeden z najważniejszych punktów tego kolażu. Wyszło nadspodziewanie blisko zamysłu (!), bardziej malarsko niż poprzedni, co niezmiernie mnie cieszy i popycha do dalszych prób. Ponownie - bardzo jestem ciekawa waszych refleksji i odczuć - jakie sa Wasze skojarzenia?
Again, I'm sharing with you something that jumpeed just right from my head - it wanted to be done so badly, that I was litterlally pushed and rushed by it to get done:) I was sure about composition, I was sure about the colors, the photo was carefully selected to match this project, which had appeared in my head in the end of April. My biggest concern was the "window" - yes, there is a hole in the middle of it (!) and it was meant to be one of the most important elements of this collage. Now, when it is done, I can say I'm quite close to the idea I had, but more "painting like" way, which makes me happy as a small crocodile and pushes me further to try more. Again - I'd like to know more about your feeling, impressions, ideas - what can you see here? Please share:)

Technicznie, ponownie mamy format to 50x70 cm - płótno malarskie, techniki mieszane czyli mixed-media z pogranicza kolażu i asamblażu. Swoje 3 grosze na pewno wtrącą tu też upcycling, industrial i cyberpunk, choć chyba w bardziej "spirytualnym" wymiarze.
Materiały: części komputerowe (takie jak twarde dyski, płyty główne, procesory, karty pamięci i pokrewne), sznurki i koronki, metalowe dodatki, papier i kwiaty od Primy. Kolory to głównie farby akrylowe (Ranger - gesso i czarne gesso) oraz pigmenty i farbki LuminArte. Czas wykonania zliczany łącznie to około 13 godzin + schnięcie.
Technical data: size is 50x70 cm (20x27,5''), made on stretched canvas. It is a mixed media collage I'd name as industrial art, cyberpunk art or artistic upcycling - with a bit of spiritual feeling. The main materials are paper, lace, twine, computer parts (motherboards, memory chips, USB plugs, hard drives etc.), some random metal and glass objects and Prima flowers and embellishments. Color is made with a huge selection of LuminArte pigments and  Ranger gesso (black and white) and sprays and. Time: about 13h + drying. Again - this is almost impossible to share all the details on the photos.

Wędrowiec - Wanderer - industrial mixed media collage

Skończyłam. Wyszło nieco inaczej niż początkowo widziałam w planach, ale to naturalna ewolucja. Kilka ładnych godzin pracy, sporo materiałów i mnóstwo radości - i jest. Wędrowiec to robocza nazwa - być może ktoś z Was znajdzie trafniejsze skojarzenie? Nie chciałabym psuć Wam zabawy i od razu wyjaśniać "co autor miał na myśli" - bardzo jestem ciekawa Waszych interpretacji. Nazwijmy to moim kolejnym "eksperymentem":) Bardzo się ucieszę, jeśli podzielicie się ze mną swoim odbiorem tego kolażu, naprawdę!
I'm done. The final effect is  - as always - a bit different from the vision I had in my mind, but it is a natural evolution and I'm used to that. Few hours of work, loads of stuff and pure happines - and here it is! "The Wanderer" is just a first name that came to my mind, but i hope that maybe you will find a better name for it? I don't want to be a spoiler and tell you what were my intentions creating that: I'd love to hear your own ideas, impressions, associations and feelings about it. Can you share it with me please? Let's name it my next "experiment!" I'd be happy to hear you, really!

A teraz technicznie: format to 50x70 cm - płótno malarskie, techniki mieszane czyli mixed-media z zahaczające o upcycling, industrial i cyberpunk (zapewne). Materiały to głownie części komputerowe (takie jak twarde dyski, płyty główne, procesory, karty pamięci i pokrewne), metalowe dodatki, papier i kwiaty od Primy. Kolor zawdzięczam mieszance wybuchowej uwzględniającej miedzy innymi akryle, spraye Rangera oraz farby Luminarte. Czas wykonania zliczany łącznie to około 15 godzin, nie licząc schnięcia.
Pracę fotografuje się koszmarnie, niestety nie jestem w stanie oddać ani dokładnej kolorystyki z pogranicza bieli, niebieskości, zieleni i złota ani wszystkich trójwymiarowych niuansów.

It is so hard to make a good shot if it: the color palette is between whites, blues, greens and golds and al the dimensional details are just hard to focus on.

Jednocześnie składam serdeczne podziękowania wszystkim, bez których ta praca by nie powstała - moim przyjaciołom i znajomym, którzy ze szczerego serca przynoszą mi co jakiś czas kolejne skarby! Ta praca zawdzięcza wiele firmie Prima Marketing, Lindzie Brun, Dryszce, Bettinie oraz kilku wspaniałym kobietom które na ostatnim Zlocie Warszawskim podarowały mi siatkę pełną komputerowych skarbów.
