Clear. Sparkly Tag - FB Live

Hi my Dears!

As you can probably see on my personal Instagram account, I am now in Lima, Peru with my classes. The possibility of travelling, meeting new people, seeing new places is just amazing! I collect all the memories, tastes, scents, sounds and then, when I am in my studio, I create "stories" in a shape of mixed media projects.

Here is one of them - clear, sparkly tag, that was created during one of my Mixed Media Minutes with Finnabair seesions.

Both tags features my sets of Glitters, Art Alchemy Metallique Paints, Mechanicals and 7 Dots Studio word stickers. 

As you can see, clear background could be fabulous space for mixed-media projects.

Mixed Media Minutes - Sparkly Pastel Tag - video tutorial

Hello my Friends!

Today I'd like to share another of my Mixed Media Minutes fb live video tutorials.

But before I do, let me just say a huge thank you for joining me during my facebook shows, for your feedback and all the enthusiastic comments!

I love sharing my ideas and techniques and it makes me really happy to hear you might feel inspired by these short videos of mine. :)
I love seeing the artworks you create after watching my videos, keep them coming and don't forget to leave links to your creations!

On this tag I decided to experiment a little and use two kinds of paints that are not often used together: Art Alchemy Impasto paints that have a matte finish and Sparks that are really shimmery.

It turns out they actually work great together and I hope you'll feel encouraged to try out this combination yourselves!

Matte Prima paper flowers together with my shiny Mechanicals, Micro Beads and one of the Art Alchemy Waxes only enhance this effect. I'm really happy with how it all turned out and I will totally use this combination again!

Don't be afraid to experiment and reach for products that at first glance may not go together.

The whole creative fun is about unexpected discoveries that you might make. Don't be afraid to take risks and try to think out of the box - of course you may end up with an art disaster but who knows, you might just as well create an artwork you will fall in love with... :)

Mixed Media Minutes - Vintage Decor - video tutorial

Hi, I'm back - and guess what - I've got a new project with a tutorial for you!
It's the third time I was doing FB Live on my Page and I'm happy to say - it is getting easier and smoother every time! Well, at least the show itself - the preparation stage is always a pain - I have too many -or not enough ideas! Or maybe, simply, I can't decide?
This time I really had to think a longer while before the idea for the project came - but when I opened my photo box and found a bunch of these very special photos I had found in the antique store in Glasgow, everything came together!

I keep wondering who these people could be... I have a full album of their photos. It was heartbreaking to find so many family keepsakes left behind by someone. Memories of the happy times - lots of laughter, fun and celebrating life. It was an impulse - I had to take them home with me, so from now on they are my adopted, extended family. Can you imagine a better inspiration for a project?

I love dimensional, rich and textured projects, and working with real old photos is a real pleasure. There is something magical in them. Inspired by the sepia colour I decided to add some tea stain (very strong tea infusion) to the colour combo - it is my favourite way to add this beautiful, natural shade of vintage brown. Lace, buttons, threads - they are my natural choice when working on vintage project, but this time I added also some shells and Art Stones to imitate the sand - because many of these photos were taken on the beach!

Here you can see the project I was creating for you during the FB Live show - I couldn't stop myself and I had to try different colour palette this time, although the stain is still there, adding beautiful brown hues.

Again - it's full of lace, flowers, shells - with accents of my favourite gears from one of my Mechanicals sets. I hope you will like watching the whole process - you will see the video below!

Mixed Media Minutes - Altered Brush

Have you heard about my Mixed Media Minutes - FB Live shows I've been doing lately? If you missed the previous one, here you can find the link to the blog post including the project and recorded tutorial!

Last week I was streaming live again - and this time I wanted to encourage you to play with some simple (but fun!) altering techniques. I picked an old 2'' flat brush as my victim - and here are the results!

The whole idea of altering is really close to my heart: I love collection old, forgotten or not used items and include them in my art as ingredients or repurposing them creating home decors, collages and many other projects which are hard to name! It is pure joy to see them shining again, attracting attention, asking to touch them and admire!

The whole process of altering was not long at all - and the main products I've used were Art Alchemy Impasto Paints, Metallique Waxes, Micro Beads and of course - some Art Basics 3D Gel as my adhesive for all the elements and embellishments.

Below you can see the recording of the FB Live show - I know it is getting blurry during the painting process, but I have to blame the bad internet connection! I hope you will forgive me this technical glitch we had... joys of living in the countryside!
