Inspiration: Avoca Blanket - woolen beauty and small challenge!

There are some places you love to visit and there are some things on the "wishlist" you are very happy to tick off. When I was the very first time in Ireland 8 years ago we were visiting Avoca Woolen Mills - which were smaller and less commercial than now. I loved this place: colours, buildings, smell of wool which for me is the essence of ultimate cosiness. I promised myself one day I will buy one of these insanely colourful blankets for my home.
In September my parents were visiting us and we've decided to visit Avoca Mills again. The experience was slightly different from the first time, but I loved it anyway. Again - the magic of colour and smell worked for me:) I took tons of photos - this place was literally asking for it!

Ok, enough...
This time I bought a blanket of course - now way I could resist for a second time! I took it home and after a few days looking at the pattern and color scheme ideas started coming to my mind... For a few days i got slightly obsessed with olive green, brown, turquoise and hot fuchsia pink...

Uhmm, the smell of woolen blanket...
Ok, anyway:
I was looking for the right color palette and elements - finally I decided to play with Distress Ink Pads - luckly I had all the needed colors at home (ehm... what a surprise) and I was ready to create my own, colorful, Avoca-blanket inspired background for my layout! It didn't take me long, really - some old labels, some pieces of the Avoca leaflet, and some hot pink yarn I got from one of my lovely students - and here it was, done!

I started with Distress Inks, then I continued with layers of paper - Vintage Vanity A4 Pad and Messy Head Collection - some doilies, labels, tags, veil, buttons, even some 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives...

Finishing touches were done with Ecolines, Archival Ink and Threading Stamp followed with a bit pencil doodles. I'm not a master of doodling for sure - but who cares? :)

Can you see this cute little woolen heart in a bottle cap? This is also a gift from my student - Lucky me! It was just perfect for this project!

If only the story ended here. But no!
The same night, using almost the same supplies I created another layout - and - heaven forgive! - I had the will to do far more! These colours and yarn and layers made something bad to my head, really!

And some details - this time with "Seamstress" stamp from my new collection and more of Checkered Resist Canvas Sheet from Elementals...

Seriously, it was hard to stop.
I have to admit there is one more waiting in a row - but I want you to have a deeper breath after this colour explosion on the blog today:) I will leave you with adorable video about Avoca Mills - enjoy! I hope now you will understand my small woolen madness;)

It's good to be challenged (from time to time) - Prima and Mixed Media Place

From time to time I've got the pleasure to participate in challenges organized on my favorite craft blogs. As most of us I enjoy a bit of inspiration and a dose of challenge - it gives me a good kick to start my project:) Maybe you will join the fun and play with us too?

First of all - here is a layout I made for Prima Build-A-Page challenge this month. The Sketch was lovely... and I had to make it "my way, I simply couldn't help myself!

Gypsy Stylin' - Prima BAP 

This photo of me and Rae is a keepsake from my Tour in Australia and NZ, we had a lot of fun there including dressing up as Gypsies and ehm... horses ;) Please don't ask why:)

Project is based on Prima Sunrise-Sunset paper collection, Resist Canvas flowers and leaves, Prima paper flowers and vines, Junkyard Findings and my Mechanicals.
Color is made with sprays - I used Primary Elements Pigments from Luminarte. Most of the products you will find here, in Mixed Media Place store :)

The second project is my Mixed-Media Journal cover - and I made this as a part of the challenge on Mixed Media Place Blog. This month we focus on acrylic paint - and my choice were Silks from Luminarte - beautiful, shimmery, vibrant paints I use all the time in my projects!

The cover of my journal was of course decorated with one of my stencils, some flowers and Mechanicals - my metal embellishments from Prima. The colors I used are from Emperor color set and Empress color set.

Dzień pełen wrażeń - a day full of emotions!!!

Wiadomości są tym bardziej radosne, że wraz ze mną jest tam ponownie Anna-Maria...oraz nasze szeregi "biało czerwone" zasiliła tym razem Mumkaa!  Wiele jest w tym DT znajomych twarzy, zapowiada się wspaniały rok - a na dodatek mamy całą plejadę Guest Designerek, w tym bliska mojemu sercu Louise Nelson  oraz nasze wpaniałe Czekoczyna i Piekielna Owieczka!!!! (Yessss...! ) Bardzo serdecznie gratuluję dziewczyny, ogromnie się cieszę z Waszego sukcesu:) To będzie wpsaniałe współpracować z takim DT i GD!
And today we've got a day of great news on Prima blog - the new DT was announced and I'm thrilled to share that I will stay in the team for one more year!!! How wonderful, thank you!!! The news is even more exciting because not only my Polish friend Anna-Maria will be on DT again but our "white and red"team will be supported by amazing, talented Mumkaa! I love seeing so many familiar, friendly faces on the team - this is going to be a crazy, inspiring year for sure! What is more - we've got a large group of Guest Designers coming: with my lovely friend Louise Nelson, and 2 Polish friends: Czekoczyna and Piekielna Owca! Woohoo!!! I 'm so very happy for you girls - and it will be a great experience to work with you!

ATC - Forever Spring - na zawsze wiosna

Z całego serca pragnę ładnej, ciepłej wiosny. Już.
Odgruzowałam balkon sadząc podstawowe zielska spożywcze i stosowne, odporne na moją nieobecność kwiaty. Powinny przetrwać chimeryczne podlewanie aplikowane przez mojego małżonka. moge tam wreszcie iść bez sromotnego wstydu i trafiającego mnie w progu jasnego szlagu.
Teraz czekam na słońce i liczę na brak komarów. Niech ta prawdziwa wiosna wreszcie wraca!
I want warm, pretty Spring here. Now. With all my heart!
I made a huge work cleaning and making my old balcony pretty (ok, well... prettier) planting some herbs I use in my kitchen and flowers that will survive my absence and chimeric watering applied by my husband. I can finally go there without crying shame and being pissed off just after the first step. 
Now I only wait for sun and I expect the mosquitoes to avoid my place this year. I want this real Spring here really badly!!!
Oby moje ATC (!) (TAK!!!) nie było wołaniem na puszczy...
I hope my ATC (!) (YES!!!) set won't be just wishful thinking...

Ten jakże zielony i w zamyśle wiosenny zestaw  to oczywiście wynik moich zmagań z wykrojnikami Sizzixa - na ich blogu znajdziecie więc małą fotorelację z ich powstawania, krok po kroku. Może nawet kogoś trafi tam nagła, przelatująca lotem koszącym inspiracja...
Chyba mój poziom sarkazmu osiąga poziom niebezpieczny. To ta pogoda, naprawdę!

Mixedmediowo-torebkowo - Mixedmedia paper bags

Witam ponownie. Pracowicie odkopuję się z wszelakich zaległości, tworzę, piszę, fotografuję, przepycham z miejsca na miejsce... z jednej strony ilość przytłacza, z drugiej cieszy i daje siły do dalszego działania, dyscyplinuje i mobilizuje.
Dzisiaj będzie o torebkach - lecz nie takich, na wieść o których mój mąż mówi: "Dobrze, ale najpierw wyrzuć 1 starą..." Mam na myśli torebki papierowe, piękne, inspirujące brązem i przyjemną fakturą papieru. Kiedyś już miałam na nie fazę w czysto scrapbookingowej formie - powstało kilka stron do rodzinnego albumu. Teraz wracam do tematu z farbami i żelami w rękach... i też jest ekscytująco:)

Hi again. I keep working, digging in my deadlines and emails: I'm planning, designing, taking photos, making projects again.... and there is normal life in between too! On the one hand the amount of work is a bit overwhelming, on the other: it gives me motivation, and power to discipline myself and go on.
Today I want to tell you about bags - but not the ones which make my husband say: "Yes, but you should throw away one of the older ones first...". I mean brown paper bags, beautiful, tempting with color and texture, perfect for many different creations. I had a crush on them some time before - but these were 100% scrapbooking, heritage projects which started a small family album. This time I come back with, gesso, paint and gels in my hands... and it is so exciting!

Emily Dickinson - 670 - Art Journal (for Cynka)

Długo obmyślany i bardzo wyczekany wpis do żurnala Cynki.

Modliłam się w duchu, aby nikt mi nie podkradł wiersza, który od początku miałam upatrzony... był wspaniały pod każdym względem: mroczny, emocjonalnie rozedrgany, nieco klaustrofobiczny... tchnący szaleństwem w czystej postaci :)
Moje prośby zostały wysłuchane:) W ten weekend wreszcie siadłam i z wielkim zapałem stworzyłam to, co od początku, od pierwszej chwili kiedy przeczytałam te wersy miałam w głowie. Praca jest inspirowana twórczością Dave'a Mckeana, a konkretnie jego mistrzowską okładką do "Domu Lalki" - z serii Sandman.... wiedziałam, że muszę zrobić coś takiego...a teraz wiem, że chcę więcej!
This Journal page is special in many ways - I've known from the first moment what kind of page I want to create. When Cynka - the journal owner - gave us the topic - poetry of Emily Dickinson - I've found the poem, which was just perfect for me - powerful, dark, inspiring...and very emotional. I loved it from the first sight. Then, the journal started it's travels and I could only pray that anybody would chose the same one. Lucky me - it was waiting for me, ready to go! This mixed-media collage (or journal page) is also inspired by art of  Dave Mckean,- especially his art cover for "Doll's House"... from Sandman Series. I've known I want to try something laike that for ages... finally I did... and you know? I think I can do more...

Artystka z journala - An artist from the journal

W tym miesiącu grono projektantek sklepu Scrapki.pl zmierzyło się z niełatwym moim zdaniem - tagiem autorstwa Enczy. Mnie zachwycił jego klimat i nietypowa, inspirująca kolorystyka - spróbowałam oddać to wszystko na stronach w journala Timboctou, który w tym tygodniu wpadł w moje ręce.
Tematem, który podała Tim była luźna historia życia pewnej artystki ze spalonego teatru... poszłam tym tropem... i powstał następujący wpis:
This month with my friends from Scrapki.pl Design Team we had an neasy chalenge - to lift beautiful tag made by Encza. I was delighted and inspird with beautiful, ncommon color scheme - that's why I tried to made my own version on the two pages of Timbuctou's journal. She asked us to tell the story of an artist...

Biała "Żółta łódź podwodna"? - "Yellow Submarine" - in white?

Słuchaj "The Beatles". Wybierz piosenkę pokaż co czujesz - na biało. Takie zadanie w sowim żurnalu zadała nam Agnieszka-Anna.
Dla mnie, osoby zupełnie nie odnajdującej się  w twórczości tej grupy, zadanie niełatwe. Odrobiłam pracę domową, słuchałam, myślałam. W końcu, stanęło na moim pierwszym typie... ale... "Żółta łódź podwodna" na... biało?
Listen to "The Beatles". Choose a song and show what you feel - in white- this challenge was given us by Agnieszka-Anna in her journal.
For me - a person who is not comfortable with the music of this group it was a hard task. I did my homework: I was listening,reading , thinking... finally I decided to follow the first choice and try the "Yellow Submarine"... but how to show it in...white?

Wydaje mi się, że klimat "submariny" udało mi się uchwycić - trąci lekko zarówno atmosferą piosenki jak też kolażowym tchnieniem w stylu starego dobrego Monthy Pythona... chyba?

I think I showed the atmosphere of the "submarine" quite well -  you can find there both the song inspiration and the good old images from "Monthy Python" films. At last I hope so ;)

Pamięć - Memory

Bratnia dusza - Soulmate - lift Scrapki.pl

Kolejny miesiąc- zatem rozpoczyna się kolejna edycja zabawy w liftowanie na blogu Scrapki.pl.
 Tym razem, ku mojej radości miałyśmy zmierzyć się z lejautem, scrapkiem, LOsem, LO (jak kto woli) - tym ciekawszym, że wykonanym przez Tusię na odwrocie koperty bąbelkowej.
Pracę sumiennie obejrzałam, wręcz przeżułam i po pewnym czasie z mojej głowy wychynęło takie "coś"...
There's abrand new edition of the lifting challenge on the Scrapki.pl blog. All the designers lifted a layout made by Tusia on the bubblewrap envelope - totally freestyle and full of color. I was truly challenged - and here is the effect:

Po raz kolejny zastanawia mnie jakimi ścieżkami podąża mój twórczy proces - wiem i widzę, że jest to lift pracy Tusi, ale, jak babcię kocham, po prostu musiałam ściągnąć to i owo do poziomu, inne do środka, zamienić motylki na chorągiewki... nawet bąbelki wyewoluowały w szachownicę a spray w stemplowaną siateczkę...A kolor? Taka moja przypadłość. Liftowanie to zabawa, która nieustannie mnie zaskakuje :)
Once again I'm amazed with the way which my creativity goes: I know and I see this is a lift of Tusia's work, but I just had to change things my way: some pieces went to the middlle, some up and some down. The misting changed into stamped net, bubbles into squares, a butterfly into banners. Oh well.... it's just me. and the color?!I guess that's the way I am... Lifs are fun, always surpising!

W cieniu drzewa - In the tree's shade

W gronie designerek ze sklepu Scrapki.pl po raz kolejny bawimy się w liftowanie!
Tym razem nasz wybór padł na przepiękną, bardzo nietypową kartkę autorstwa zdolniachy Karoli.
Mój organiczny opór wobec robienia kartek jest chyba już dość znany, więc nie powinno dziwić, że uciekałam od tej formy jak mogłam.Uciekłam, powiedziałabym, bardzo daleko od oryginału... choć chyba nadal widać inspirację, prawda? (proszę, teraz powinnyście przytaknąć, proszęęęę) ;)

It is well known I'm not good at cardmaking, so I wanted to try something... a bit different, but still bringing to mind the orginal work. I know my "lifting" is a very, very freestyle one, but please, tell me you see the tree shape.... please!!!! ;)
