This mixed media piece features a crafted astronaut figure made of polyurethane, demonstrating the versatility and artistic potential of Finnabair’s products in home decor. I’ve used gesso and gels from the Basics line to get a textured base. Liquid acrylics, waxes and metallic flakes were my choice to add colour and depth. For the composition, I took several moulds and small findings and enriched it with art stones and other textured elements.
The astronaut, symbolizing the fragility of humans in the vast universe, stands as a poignant reminder of our vulnerability and the awe-inspiring scale of the cosmos. Through this artwork, I aim to convey a message of wonder and introspection, inviting viewers to reflect on their place in the universe and the intricate beauty that can be achieved through mixed media techniques.
