Hello friends!
For today's post I made a project playing with my favorite nautical theme.
While I was cleaning my house, I found this adorable little cardboard house and decided to decorate it and turn into a special keepsake box for the shells I once collected.
I have always liked the style of traditional beach cabins and I wanted to create a miniature version of such a house.
I used the amazing new Impasto Paints to paint my little house. They are so perfect for any kind of project - they come in a variety of rich colors and become permanent when dry - this is really important when you want to add more paints or mists later on.
I wanted this cabin to look as if it was exposed to wind and water for a very long time.
Different sizes of Art Stones, torn net and pieces of gauze are a perfect combo to achieve this look.
A little bit of Patina Effect Pastes and White Gesso worked great for the finishing touches.
You can watch the whole project in the video I made especially for you (see below).
If you're wondering how I glued on all the dimensional embellishments like the starfish and the sea shells for example, you will see in my video that I'm using hot glue. This is the best solution, especially if you're an impatient person like me. :)
The hot glue is very strong and you can be sure that your project will become unchanged for many years to come.
As with many of my creations, I couldn't resist using the beautiful Art Alchemy Waxes. They are my perfect products! You can literally use them with every kind of project and they are a brilliant tool to add delicate brilliance to chosen elements of your piece, or to deliciously enhance the details and textures.

Here's my tutorial video - I hope you'll enjoy!

Here are some more details of my project:

From time to time I like to make something useful but most of my projects are "just" decorations.

You certainly know how much space you need to store them! :)

So I thought that sometimes it might be also a good idea to combine 'pleasant'  and 'decorative' with' useful'. :)

Self-made items for storage are a perfect personalised decoration for your studio. So I hope you like my idea!

xx
