Hello
wonderful people,
Today
I’m back with an art journal spread that I hope will brighten your
day with its cheerful colours and message.
I wasn’t always an art
journaler, but lately, I am drawn to it more and more, as I find it
a very freeing exercise as well as a totally safe space where I can
always go and experiment with new techniques, try out new supplies or
just tell a story and create to my heart’s content.
I
started my page by applying a coat of Heavy White Gesso to my pages
using a Finnabair brush and dried it with my heating tool.
In order
to paint my background, I diluted a few of the new Art Alchemy
Impasto paints, applied them randomly on my pages, spritzed more
water on top, covered the page with plastic wrap (trying to create as
many crinkles as possible) and left everything dry naturally, which
will take about 2 hours.
As you’ll see in my video, I tried to
experiment with quite a few different techniques in applying my
Impasto paints, to give you a taste of how they behave and react and
I must say they are just gorgeous!!! So easy to work with, their
consistency is perfect, very good load of pigment not to mention the
luscious colours 😊
They are a must on every crafter’s working table, my friends!
Going
back to my pages – after I repeated this step several times, adding
more colours each time and let my background dry completely, I
sketched two gerbera daisy-like flowers with a white charcoal stick.
In order to create the centre of the flowers and give my pages some
really cool texture, I glued down a mixture of Mega, medium and Mini Art Stones with 3D Matte Gel.
Next, I painted the
centre black and, while the paint was still wet, I sprinkled Black Micro Beads, Black Glass Glitter and fine Glitter for a bit of sparkle. I am
not a very “glittery” person, but I must admit I absolutely loved
the effect.
My
next step was to give the petals a base coat of paint using the
Impasto paints and then, I did some shading and put the highlights
using the Art Alchemy Metallique acrylics which brought my flowers to
life giving them a wonderful, soft shine which enhanced perfectly the
base colour.
Then,
I fussy cut a lovely old photo of three little girls from Finnabair
Vintage Collectibles Ephemera pack and collaged the image, a few
chipboard tiny stars and the stamped words using 3D Matte Gel.
As
a finishing touch, I diluted some Snow White Impasto paint and using
the end of a brush I painted some dots on my petals.
I have also highlighted the texture using Art Alchemy White Gold Wax and Mica Powder.

I
hope you enjoyed and got inspired by my new art journal page and you
are ready to create some magic of your own. 😊
Have
a wonderful day and a great and creative week, my friends,
xoxo
