Frosty Morning

Hello, Friends!
I'm one lucky girl who has "escaped" to sunny California for a while but I know perfectly well how dreary January can be...
So today, we have our lovely Elena who used her magic to show us that cold can be beautiful and inspiring! :)

Hello friends!
Today I'd like to show you a canvas which I called "Frosty Morning". Why this name? Because if you look at my works you will see that I often use cold shades and colors, and I thought they perfectly correspond with present time of year - cold January! :)

And now let me show you my process. First, I covered my canvas with Heavy White Gesso. I always start with this step as Gesso makes just a perfect base for using all kinds of paints and sprays later on!

After it dried, I coated the canvas with Silks paints - first, Bolivian Blue and when it dried, I applied one more Silk - Iridescent Copper.

I delicately covered the edges of my canvas with a Distress Ink and some Black Gesso.

Then, it was time for some stamping - and of course, I used my ever favorite clear stamp - the Book! :)
It is just ideal to add delicate touches that make every work richer.

Then, I created my composition of metal jewelry and paper flowers and some Pearl Glass Glitter.

I covered everything with White Sand Paste to add even more dimension and texture.

And then some more Silks in the same shades as I used on my background.
I also needed some wintery sparkling Glitter and beautiful Crystal Glass Beads.

My finishing touch was to splash a little bit of watered down Black Gesso (you can also use black ink) and I was ready!

I love Finnabair products so much! With them on your desk, it is possible to make any kind of work, for every taste, in any style! There are so many opportunities! I'm so happy that I have the chance to work with them.
Hope you'll feel as excited and inspired as I am! :)

Let Yourself Play!

Hello, Friends!
As you probably know, for me January is both a really exciting and very very busy month...
So there come moments when I simply have to close my computer for a tiny little while, put all the unanswered emails, deadlines and Very Important Projects aside... and just play!
You know, it's sort of creative hygiene. :)

So one such evening, I turned on some inspiring music and spread my favorite art toys around...
... vintage photos, metal frames (I think they might be the back parts of old cameras), my new love - ice resing, stamps, inks and watercolor crayons ... and here's what happened...

Three handsome gentlemen...

Sad little Miss Nancy...

A mysterious flying pig...

And one more story re-told...

I hope you like my mini collage people. Don't forget to simply play and have creative fun from time to time!

Hugs to you all!

Dream Catcher

Hello Dear Friends!
Let's start the New Year with a very special project.
How about instead of making resolutions (let's be honest - who ever keeps them...? ;) ) we create some inspiring Art?
Our sweet Marta had an awesome idea to store all the dreams, hopes, things you are grateful for, words of wisdom, precious memories - the list of the possibilities is endless and we hope you will feel inspired!

Hello everyone,
Welcome in the New Year! Is the time going so fast for you, too?
I would like to take a moment here and wish you that this year will be the most creative and filled with special moments.
I would also like to thank you for amazing support for the past few months. Your presence on Finnabair's blog to see her Creative Team projects means a lot to us.
Your comments add wings and motivate to create special pieces just for you.

Today's project is special for me.
It's an altered treasured box.
It's a metaphor box, I placed there my personal dreams and hopes for 2015.

If you're curious, here's what the box looked like before I used plenty of delicious mixed media products. :)

Plain and boring, right? I really needed it to be magical and inspiring and you will see in my video tutorial below how I transformed the box.
My first base coat was made with White Crackle Texture Paste and then I added Mechanicals from Finnabair and some metal pieces from my own stash - all glued with super strong 3D Gloss Gel.
I also glued some paper flowers and some Glass Glitter, Glass Beads and Mica Flakes again using 3D gloss gel.

The whole piece was covered with Heavy Gesso and painted with sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and ColourArte Silks.

I hope you will find my special treasure box inspiring. I wonder what you would put into yours... :)

And here's the promised video:

Feel inspired and get crafting!
Hugs,
Marta xx
