My newest project for Finnabair is a wreath with a vintage feel, full of textures, details, and natural embellishments.
I used the Butterfly Effect paper collection from 7 Dots Studio and Finnabair. The papers are beautiful, deep browns, with delicate, unconventional patterns that immediately reminded me of something old, slightly dusty, and a bit mysterious. They were a perfect fit for this project and worked beautifully with the overall composition. The base for the entire project was a HDF wreath, which served as a stable starting point, but what gives it its character are the embellishments.
Metal accessories were also a must. The various decorative elements found at Mixed Media Place store beautifully enhance the atmosphere of the project and give it that distinctive look. I also added some art stones, lace, a mini frame made of mould, and… my favorite dry sticks. They really do the trick. They're natural, irregular, and they always work well in projects like this.
The whole thing was lightly underlined with white gesso, and I previously sealed the paper with clear gesso. This allowed me to work with the white gesso and water without the risk of any delamination.
