Little Time Travelers – Art Journal Page by Priss BlaFu

Hello! I’m Priss, and today I’m sharing a mixed media art journal page inspired by the idea of childhood as the beginning of tomorrow.

I worked on kraft paper, which naturally brings warmth and a subtle vintage mood. From the start, I knew I wanted to soften that feeling and move the page toward something lighter and more hopeful.

The focal point of this composition is a small group of children, arranged as if they are sitting together in a circle. Around them, I layered book paper scraps, clocks, tickets, threads, and the “Study” label to build a story about time, growth, and learning.

The clocks represent time passing, but not in a nostalgic way. Instead, I wanted them to feel like quiet witnesses of the present moment — a reminder that while children play, explore, and dream, they are already shaping who they will become.

To create this atmosphere, I combined soft layers of tissue paper, texture with stencils, and subtle touches of grey, blue, and gold mica powders. The light behind the children was especially important to me, as it helps guide the eye and reinforces the feeling of hope.

Even though many elements have a vintage look, my intention was not to look back, but to look forward. Childhood is not just a memory — it is the foundation of the future.

You can watch the full step-by-step process in the video tutorial linked below.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful day of creative joyful making.

Happy creating! 💙
