A bit Overemotional - class projects

"Overemotional" collage was one of my favorites projects to teach last year - and  - lucky me - it was also one of the most popular ones! I don't remember how many times I was repeating the same stamps with the students, but what is great - because I'm always able to choose different elements, colours, patterns - this is NEVER boring!
I really believe that in teaching and learning process one of the most important factor is freedom of interpretation. We can all get the same kit, the same elements, photos... and take the same steps - but the results will be different from each other...

My plan was always to teach people skills, techniques, give them power and will to create. Not the ability to re-create the project from the classroom, but to CREATE something unique and matching their tastes and personalities. I hope my way of teaching makes it all possible and I hope my students have good experiences - at least as good as I have myself!

If you look at these 2 projects from the classroom you will see how similar and how different they are: just changing colours and orientation of the project make a huge impact! Then looking at the details and checking which embellishments or found objects I used - this is pure fun!

I hope my way thinking of my classes and comparing some of the classroom projects will give you the confidence that you are all able to do it. I heard so many times my students saying" I will never make something like this"... but then, in the end of the class I've also heard: "I did it. I was able to make it!"And then I can only smile... Yes, you are able to do more than you think - just please try to forget about your limitations, doubts and perfectionism. This won't help. Follow your heart and let your hands play...

If you are willing to take this class - please check the locations below. I hope to see you in the classroom!
- Scrappy Chic, Michigan  - USA
- Love is in the Details - Manitoba - Canada
- Artsy Stamps and Crafts - Colorado - USA
- The Paper Boutique - Illinois - USA
- Whim So Doodle - Florida - USA

Sending warm hugs (from Lyon, France)

I am looking forward to learn from you in class (september) and I love that you want to teach us our own way to use your techniques and products...Love those canvasses you've made also very much...very dramatic...

Thank you Finn. You were my very first ever "mentor". Yours was the first tutorial I ever watched. My first mixed media project - 9 months ago - was from your example. I am grateful for your steadfastness and your continued encouragement. And TODAY... this posting was just what I needed to see. And what I really needed to hear today was just what you said... "Yes, you are able to do more than you think - just please try to forget about your limitations, doubts and perfectionism. This won't help. Follow your heart and let your hands play...". THANKS BUNCHES and BUNCHES for AGAIN inspiring me. j.

This is beautiful, and yes to enabling people to have the skills to create rather than re-create :)

Morning - just wanted say first of all that your style of teaching is perfect as you let everyone do their own thing but are there to help when needed and you have certainly inspired me when I attended a project weekend with you and secondly I love your canvases - we did something very similar in class but with our own twist - and I am so proud of what I achieved that weekend - thanks xx GailT xx

This is a great class, so if you're thinking about it... take it, you will not regret it!! I took this class when she was a Donna Downey's Studio last year and absolutely loved it!

I would love to take a class! The Colorado store does not say when the classes are or how much they are charging. I tried clicking on the email address, but it doesn't work. Do you have that information?

If you have the opportunity to take this class, grab it with both hands. I loved it and love the result so much that I want to do a companion piece in dark colours. One word of advice to students - make sure your photo has been professionally printed (and is therefore coated) as you will want to paint on it.
