Canvas "Just Smile" by Olya Kravets

Hello lovely creative friends! Today I'd like to share with you my new mixed media canvas with positive mood! This time I decided to combine light and shadow and focus on contrasts. I hope to inspire you with this.

I started the project with an interesting and beautiful Tissue Paper. This will make the background more original. I glued it with Soft Gel. I added a pattern to the top of the canvas with Texture paste  and painted it with my favorite Impasto Paints. Mixed dark blue and purple shades.

Then I painted decor elements of the composition with Black Gesso. Here are moulds and metal elements, I love various layers. When everything dried I created a composition and enjoyed the process: this is my favorite part! Now I can begin to paint. I took Metallic Acrylic Paints of blue and violet-pink hues too and mixed them directly on the elements. Then I added the last layer: Waxes. There are also several shades and I finished everything with Old Silver Wax.

You can add a little more playfulness with Art Ingredients. My favorites are Art Stones and Glitter. I stick them on Soft Gel. A few more stones and all my love for Finnabair products here.

So, what is Art Alchemy Matte Wax?

Gorgeous, wax-based antiquing paste with a unique, matte look!
Matte Wax has a special, opaque, covering and permanent finish. It will give you generous colour and matte, vintage-looking results on both dark and light coloured surfaces and turning your artwork into a real treasure.
It is great for applying with your fingers, sponges, dabbing brushes and soft fabric. Perfect for adding colour and finishing touches to mixed-media and home décor projects. Works on most popular surfaces and elements giving the permanent, water-resisting finish which doesn't require sealers.

Note: As with all wax-based products or product based on oils separation may show for a variety of reasons and it doesn't affect the quality of the product - it is a natural process, mostly due to temperature changes. If it happens - simply take a palette knife or any other tool and mix the wax to re-combine the ingredients.

Art Journal by Kasia Bogatko

Today's inspiration is the cover of an art journal. I wanted it to be fairly simple and flat, to use it easily and  throw it into bag without worrying about damage.

As a base, I used the remains of alphabet chipboards. I usually don't throw it away, because they can still become an interesting element of a project. I glued it with 3d Matte Gel and covered with a modeling paste to add more structure and protect the cardboard from the rest of the media I used.

In this project I used Liquid Acrylic paints because they are completely waterproof and permanent after drying. I use water to distribute them, thanks to which we get beautiful, smooth color transitions and a great watercolor effect. The paint collects in cavities, perfectly emphasizing all the details and elements of the composition. To increase this contrast, I highlight elements with white gesso. Remember to do it on a thoroughly dried project. Otherwise, the gesso will stain with paints and will no longer be pure white.

To add a little bit of contrast and old look to this project, here and there I used a black watersoluble pencil. I really like the "shadow" effect we can get in this way.
