Journey Altered Shaker Hoop by Lanette Erickson

Today I’m sharing an altered hoop with a fun shaker twist! For the base of this project, I used Finnabair’s Time Traveler’s Decoupage Fiber Paper—the vintage tones and elements are absolutely perfect for creating a steampunk-inspired background.

I then built a dimensional cluster using a mix of chipboard, metal embellishments, and resin pieces, layering them to create lots of mechanical detail. To bring everything together and add that beautifully aged look, I used plenty of Finnabair Rust Pastes for rich texture and an authentic rusty finish.

Rusty Dial by Lori Woods

Hello creative friends! Do you have a creative comfort zone? A style or look that you return to again and again because it makes your heart happy? For me that’s a steampunk project with found objects, gear, beautiful rich colours and of course, rust!

I started this project with a shaped base and added the gorgeous Chestnut Street decoupage paper.  I used rust paste through a Finnabair stencil as it gives a really great look and texture.

I had two found items that I really wanted to incorporate- an old voltmeter and a radio tube. I built up some mould pieces and mechanicals as a base to place these items on.

Using acrylic paints and rust paste I added colour and texture to the different elements. Emerald was matched the decoupage paper perfectly and I used this to create areas of contrasting colour.

Celestial Insects by Lori Woods

Hello creative friends! Are you loving Finnabair’s new releases as much as I am? The moulds and the new decoupage fiber papers can be combined in so many ways!

I decided to return to one of my favourite themes- starry nights- and incorporate some of the fantastic dragon fly and beetle moulds into it. I started by covering my box in the beautiful Nightdreaming paper. For the moulds I wanted to keep the decoration quite simple so you can see all the marvellous details on each piece.

I created little backgrounds for each mould from mechnicals which I covered in rust paste to give a contrast to the bright starry colours. I then finished with some extra sparkle from Finnabair glitters!
