Life is Electric by Lori Woods

Hello creative friends! Sometimes we get so caught up in wanting our projects to be perfect, to have the correct composition, the right colour palette, we forget that art should be enjoyable to make. It should be fun!

I started by stencilling the background and painting the base white. I then built up a composition with moulds and elements until I had a nice arrangement across the centre and gessod this. I gathered some bright, fun paints colours and then just splashed some colour around!

To create some shadows I used a purple acrylic paint to keep in with the colourful theme and highlighted some areas with a bright wax.

I then finished the project off by adding some extra bits and pieces to the composition with a few splatters of bright paint. I hope this project inspires you to let your creative side loose and just have some fun!

Vintage-style tags by Kasia Salmanowicz

 Hello,

This time I made two vintage-style tags with a whole bunch of Finnabair products. Each of the projects is a composition full of structures and contrasts, made using the mixed media technique.

The base was two tags made of HDF material, which, due to their thickness, constitute a solid foundation for the project. I arranged layered compositions on them using various elements: Finnabair chipboards, old laces, castings from moulds and clay mass, and metal accessories - such as flowers and small details. These elements built the spatiality and character of the whole project.

I also reached for a structural paste, which gave additional texture and made the surface not completely flat. I glued the whole thing with Soft Matte Gel and Heavy Body Gel.

After building the composition, I dried the whole project thoroughly and then primed it with white gesso. Thanks to this, the surface was ready to receive the color. I reached for paints from the Liquid Acrylic Paint series and used three colors that smoothly interpenetrated. After they were completely dry, I moved on to the final stage - whitening, which allowed me to pull out the most protruding fragments of the composition and give the project depth. This is how the tag duet was created.

Have a nice day,

Kasia Salmanowicz

July Art Daily: Find solace in nature

Hello friends,

Nature is something, we couldn't live without. It gives us shelter and food, but also inspires us and feeds our souls. And July theme is:

Find solace in nature: works with plant motifs

A Scent of Summer
Mixed Media Art Journal by Margarita Shkludova

Hello, creative friends! Margarita Shkludova here.

Today I’m sharing a new spread from my art journal.

One of my favorite things to use in my projects is dried plants. Tiny leaves, wildflowers, little twigs — they bring such a natural touch to the page. I love how they connect creativity with nature, grounding the artwork and adding an organic texture. It feels like I’m preserving small pieces of the world around me, giving them new life in a visual story.

To attach all these delicate elements, I always reach for Soft Matte Gel by Finnabair. It’s super easy to use and holds everything — from fragile botanicals to layered paper bits — perfectly in place. A true essential in my mixed-media toolbox!

Nature is full of inspiration — don’t forget to look down and collect a little magic.

See you soon!
