Her Heart - mixed-media art-journal cover by Wiola

Hi everyone,

Last month I created for you mixed media assemblage and this month very simple junk journal cover but with very interesting texture. I made background using snowflake past because is more delicate than my loved white sand paste. So, now you know that the snow paste is great not only for winter projects but simply for amazing texture;). I used beautiful waxes and I added my favorite mechanicals.

Have fun creating!!

Bright canvas by Anastasia Kuznetsova

 Hello, friends!

Today I want to show you the small bright canvas that will become the cover of a mini-album.

I glued a white cotton cloth to the cardboard and covered the background with White Heavy Gesso. Then I glued pieces of fabric tape to the background. Then I applied White Crackle Paste in some places. I glued a chipboard from Prima Marketing onto the raw paste. I also applied paste on top of the chipboard in some places.

Then I created a volumetric composition. I used clay figurines that I made with molds from Finnabair. I also used Mechanicals, Melange and beads. I used Heavy Body Gel as glue. After the gel has dried, I started coloring. I used Liquid Acrylics, Opal Magic paint and Sparks paint.

I dried the paints with a dryer. I applied Waxes to the protruding parts of the composition. Then I added the stamp impressions. At the very end, I added accents to the project: Micro Beads and Glass Glitter. I used Soft Gloss Gel as glue.

You can watch the creation process in this video. Enjoy, Anastasi.

Prima Art Venture 2021 is online!

Hi, my Dears! Are you ready for some creative fun?

I'm sure many of you heard about the biggest classes organised by Prima every year - Art Venture!

I was one of the teachers there is almost every edition and I enjoyed it so much - a huge gathering of people, 6 teachers, 3 classes with mindblowing kits and projects per day - it was a wonderful creative marathon, a great way to start the year artistically!

Many of the international mixed-media fans were hoping one day they will be able to join - but such a big journey is not always easy to organise and plan... but THIS YEAR IT IS POSSIBLE - Prima Art Venture is going ONLINE - bigger then ever an with the line-up of teachers like never before:

Prima Marketing and Charity Wings did everything to keep the atmosphere of the event as close to original as possible - providing not only wonderful selection of teachers who prepared classes with beautiful, inspiring projects and more than generous kits but offering 12 classes to choose from in several packages and a'la carte options!

If you are wondering what is my job this year - check out my 2 projects (I'm the only teacher teaching twice due to the size of the kit offered,  covering 2 classes instead of 1).

For the US residents, the packages with the kits are a great opportunity to get the latest Prima products delivered on their doorstep, making the whole calss so easy to follow (and there are some extras added as well!) - this is as always great value for money!

You can check the packages and classes info here: Art Venture 2021 by Gather

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?

Art Venture 2021 is online - so we are able to offer the CLASS ONLY passes on a discounted rate for the international mixed-media fans who live anywhere outside the US and would like to take the classes at home! This way you can source your products locally - or order them in advance to make sure they will arrive on time.

I'm so very happy this option is available for all of you, so this event will be a real celebration of creativity all over the world!

Steampunk Sea horse by Kasia Bogatko

Today I have for you a project that combines all my favorite products - waxes, liquid acrylic paints and moulds. I haven't created anything related to the sea for a long time, but it used to be one of my favorite topics. This time I reached for the shape of a seahorse and decided to decorate it only with gears and cogs.

Making of such a project is not difficult, all you need is your favorite shape and some metal, plastic or resin elements. Instead of cogs, they can be flowers, buttons, jewelry, it all depends on you. I used resin cast elements and my favorite moulds from Finnabair. I glued all the elements to the base using 3d matte gel. Finally, here and there I added different sizes of art stones, also gluing them on gel.

Before we start the next stage, it is important that everything is perfectly dry. This time, instead of white or black gesso, I used Impasto paint. This paint gives a perfectly matte and smooth surface, it is a great foundation for further actions. To make the whole background more diverse, I also used Liquid Acrylic paints. Thanks to the addition of water, they filled the cavities, adding more color to them.

Finally, I reached for waxes. Thanks to them all the elements are more emphasized and shiny.

The whole process of creating this project is not difficult and you will find it in my video. I hope you try to do something similar yourself.
