Through A Lens by Lori Woods

 Hello creative friends!

I am obsessed with creating beautiful translucent additions to my project with Finnabair's Pearl Effect paste so I decided to make it the focal point with this project! It’s such a simple technique but it creates a stunning effect. Take a piece of clear film, I like to use old packaging film, and spread a layer of the paste over the size of the area you need. I like to press in chipboard shapes or other elements to create a complete embellishment, or you can simply cut it to the shape you need. It can take a little while to dry as the paste is thick but it’s worth the wait!

For the background elements of this project I raided one of my boxes of collected treasures so there is a lovely mix of old computer parts, screws, a paracetamol packet, chipboard leftovers and other assorted items. I attached these to the background and coloured everything with liquid acrylics to give a shabby patina look.

Winter Tale by Priss BlaFu

Happy New Year! ✨

I hope this new year has started in a truly fantastic way for all of you, filled with creativity, inspiration, and beautiful moments in your art journey.

Today I’m excited to share my Winter Tale mixed media project, a piece inspired by light, contrast, and that quiet magic we associate with winter. This project is all about building layers, playing with texture, and slowly bringing the focal point to life through highlights, soft colors, and subtle shimmer.

I worked on a dark base to create strong contrast, then gradually softened the background with light tones and translucent layers. Textures, dimensional elements, and delicate metallic accents help guide the eye and add depth, while the final highlights and splatters bring movement and a snowy, wintery atmosphere to the piece.

Below you’ll find photos of the finished project, where you can really appreciate the details, textures, and light that make this Winter Tale come alive.

If you’d like to see the full creative process, step by step, I invite you to watch the complete tutorial on the Finnabair Art Files YouTube channel, where I walk you through each stage of the project and share my approach to layering, composition, and finishing touches.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I wish you a year full of creative discoveries and joyful making.

Happy creating! 💙

Priss

But what if it goes right by Szafranowe

Sometimes you feel you just have to do something!

That’s exactly how I felt when I was framing this badge with the inscription from 7 Dots Studio.

Luckily, casts from gear moulds came to my rescue. I love painting them first with Impasto paint – I treat it like colourful gesso – and then adding liquid acrylics and waxes.

The effect always amazes me!

What about you?
