Beetle by Numbers by Lori Woods

Hello creative friends! I was so excited to see the new numbers mould from Finnabair- there are so many possibilities with a mould like this. Since there are so many different pieces on this mould, I thought it would be really fun to create an entire background out of them. I arranged all the numbers over the canvas, leaving some spaces to create a bit of contrast.

For my focal points the new Steampunk beetles mould was perfect. I selected three different sizes of beetles and layered these up with some mechanicals and gears from the mould.

Once everything was ready, I selected a variety of paints and waxes that gave a colourful iridescent insect vibe and finished off with some glittery effect paste.

You are Enough Mixed Media Heart by Lanette

Today I am sharing an Altered MDF Heart that I created using a mix of Finnabair Goodies! I really didn’t have much in mind when I started this project, I just wanted to create something colorful. So naturally I pulled out a mix of Liquid Acrylics and Metallic Waxes!

If you would like to see how this Altered MDF Heart came together you can watch my process over on the Finnabair YouTube channel, I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope I have inspired you in some small way to spend some creative time in your art space!!

Until next time, Hugs & Have FUN Creating!

Colour Study by Lori Woods

 Hello creative friends!

Our mood board this month features the new Juicy set of liquid acrylics. As these are very bright and colourful paints, I wanted to create a project where the colour didn't overwhelm the elements on the page and also with a bit of a grungy vibe. I decided to try to create a mixed-media version of a nature illustration from a textbook, with the mould pieces taking the part of the specimen.

Once the elements were assembled, I used splashes of colour over them and also diluted some of the paint with lots of water to imitate watercolour splodges. I highlighted areas with Ink Black to give the impression of pen outlines and added some stamp details to look like areas of writing.

I found that Acid, Cobalt and Indian Pink waxes are a very nice compliment to the paint colours so I used these to add some areas of colour interest.
