Rise & Shine in Black – Mixed Media Tag by Priss

Hello, creative souls! I’m Priss BlaFu (@artful.layers), and today I’m sharing a wooden tag full of drama created for the September Release.

I started with a black background, using a stencil with 3D Gloss Gel and Sparks Raven Black to give it a moody texture. For the decoration, I played with the brand-new Finnabair moulds (and I’m seriously in love with them!), painting the details with Sparks Carnival and Masquerade. The focal point of this piece is the gorgeous scarab beetle, finished with Metallique waxes to make it shine with magical iridescence.

It’s a little darker than my usual style, but I absolutely loved exploring these Sparks paints for the first time. They are pure magic!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this tag inspires you to try something out of your comfort zone and let the darkness surprise you.

Until our next creative adventure, keep your heart messy and your hands full of paint.

Priss

October 2024 Ambassadors' Spotlight

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Finnabair's blog with a mixed-media canvas inspired by the monthly theme: Let's Get Spooky!

As the base for the background, I decided to use the Solar tissue paper. I used the Soft Gloss Gel to glue on the canvas. Then, I added a very thin layer of Heavy White Gesso as I wanted to see the pattern afterwards. I added a design with the Rocket Science stencil and 3D Gloss Gel.

When everything was completely dry, I painted the background with Liquid Acrylic paints in Nude, Burnt Sienna, and Ink Black to match the colors of the photo.

I primed the bat wings with Heavy Black Gesso and the other resin elements with Heavy White Gesso.

I painted the skull and the bones with the same Liquid Acrylic I used for the background. To alter the chains, I used the Rust Effect Paste set and some Old Silver wax.

I added some Vintage Silk wax to highlight the details of the bat's wings and the horns of the mountain sheep.

Winged house by Anastasia Korvyakova

Hello, mixed media fans! It’s Anastasia here with my new mixed media project and video tutorial. I’ve made assemblage with a lot of Finnabair products and found objects and called this work “Home is where the heart is”

As a base, I used a wooden house that my friend made for me from the old wooden piece. I glued wings from Birds and Bat mould and big gear from Large Gears mould with Heavy Body gel on the back of the base. I added colour on wings with Flame and Plum Preserves metallic acrylic paints. Gears and chipboard I covered with Brown and Red Rust Effect pastes. I added Sage Leaves Matte wax as a finishing touch.

The front part I decorated with Finnabair Mechanicals, Steampunk flowers chipboard pieces, paper flowers, rusty nails. At the end, I attached real light bulbs to the rusty nails. These bulbs I also coloured up with rust effect pastes and Aged Brass wax.

Here you will find a video tutorial that I hope you enjoy:

Hugs, Anastasia(aka Nastyalena)
