March 2022 Art Recipe

Hello friends,

March Art Recipe is a mix of warm and cold images, because March is exactly like that.

____________________________________________________________________________

Our new visual moodboard consists of:

- 4 products to choose from - they are shown on the right

- colour palette - right next to the products and each colour has their own circle

- and visual inspiration in a form of several beautiful images.

It is easy to remember - things in circles are the core of the challenge (colours and products) and things in squares/rectangles are only a visual inspiration to help you get creative juices flowing.

Just to make sure, you are all well informed, we would like to let you know, that challenges will be going live each second Sunday of the month. So please do not be surprised, that Inlinkz is closed the day before. Please keep that in mind planning you are entering the challenge :) because we love your projects so much and we do not want to lose any of them!

____________________________________________________________________________

The rules are very simple. Each challenge consists of a colour palette and products. You need to stick to the colour palette and use at least 2 of the products listed in a challenge.

Products to choose from:

Jewel Paste

Chipboard

Matte Wax

Tissue Paper

The colours: dusty rose, delicate coral, light taupe

If the products on your project are not easy to recognize, please add in description information, where exactly we can see them.

Challenge is open till April, 9th. The winner will be invited to be Guest Designer on our blog.

This month Guest Designer is Lori Woods

Hello creative friends- I'm very happy to be with you as a Guest Designer today for Finnabair blog!

The moodboard this month has beautiful soft colours but it made me think about how there is a strength in things that might appear soft, like kindness and compassion. In these terrible times, there have been many stories of selflessness and kindness, of determination and a united bond of humanity. Small gestures that give us hope that good can triumph.

I started with a base of tissue paper, stencilling and chipboard shapes which I gave a light covering of white gesso. I then created a composition of mould pieces and mechanicals which I coloured with liquid acrylic and impasto paints. The new Tigers Eye jewel paste is a gorgeous brown shade that went perfectly with the coral and dusty rose pinks and was gently brushed over the elements.

The Words You Need set is full of inspirational phrases and I found one which had exactly the sentiment I wanted to express. A sprinkling of microbeads then finished the project.

Inspiration from our team:

Hello friends,

I love the soft mood board of March Art Recipe; it is soothing and gentle, warm, and light. (I am seriously thinking of framing it into my studio wall, to remind me of good things.) So, it was very much a joy to come up with a gentle project. Which is how I ended up creating covers for a tiny little journal, only 7cm x 9cm. I wanted it to feel like dried rose petals; something fragile and delicate you almost hold your breath when you touch it and leaf through it.

Here’s how I did it.

I created the album covers from thick, heavy cardboard, and covered them with Flutter Tissue Paper, using Soft Matte Gel as glue. Then I primed it with white Heavy Gesso and painted the album with Vintage Roses Mica Powders, inside out, using Soft Matte Gel as the medium I mixed the powders in.

I also dyed the laces with the same powders and let them dry completely. Then I used Soft Matte Gel to attach crocheted vintage lace onto the cover (and ribbon for tying the journal) and let it dry again completely.

I made a simple composition using a bit of coffee dyed cheese cloth, a mica powder dyed lace bit with a clay rose bud mould and a piece of Mechanical Thistle Chipboard I cut from a larger piece. I primed the clay rose and chipboard leaf with gesso, painted them with the same Mica Powders I used earlier, and added some Ochre Matte Wax to get a dried rose look. Then I attached them with Heavy Body Gel. As the final touch I added a hint of very diluted Tiger’s Eye Stone Jewel Paste here and there to get an understated glamour into the piece.

Wishing you all the good things in the world,

Emilia

Hello,

Do you like creating projects with a moodboard? The Finnabair team shows you a variety of inspirations every month, using a similar range of colours with specific materials. There is a challenge of this kind, and we constantly encourage you to create and share your interpretations.

I decided to make a round canvas using tissue paper. Finnabair offer includes many beautiful patterns;) I glued the paper with 3D Matte Gel. It is not too dense and is easy to use for glueing thin paper. After drying it, I additionally covered it with Clear Gesso.

To make the composition, I used elements made of clay and metal embellishments, which I simply love. They are spacious and perfectly made.

I coloured my design with Burnt Sienna Liquid Acrylic paint and Coral Reef metallic paint. Finally, I added White Gesso and wax to emphasize some elements.

Hugs,

Kasia Salmanowicz

An amazing palette, floral elements, twigs, all this prompted me to create my botanical work! I picked up the base - a wooden saw, paints and pastes from Finnabair and then sailed along the river with the name Inspiration.

I have taken a step-by-step tutorial on this panel, I will be glad if it becomes a ray of light for you in difficult times.

May there always be a clear blue sky over our heads, there are many flowers around and life will be full of happiness!

Hello everyone!

I created reverse canvas for my art recipe project, inspired by this absolutely fascinating moodboard.

I used tissue paper as a base, lots of black gesso to cover my chipboard, mechanicals and mould pieces, and some Rose Gold wax to top it up.

I only accented here and there with Rose Quartz Jewel Paste.

As usual, I finished off with dry brushing some white gesso on top and splatters to brighten the composition a little.
