October Ambassadors' Spotlight

Dear friends,

Each month we highlight projects of Finnabair Brand Ambassadors and today is the day :) October host is Olga Heldwein with theme: Spooky bloody crafts. This is perfect theme for now, don't you think? :)

Halloween is my very favorite holiday. Finally opportunity to unleash inner creep !!. For my inspiration today I decided to alter Styrofoam pumpkin and see how far I can stretch my favorite products.  First I sculpted some face using air drying clay and made some preps ( moulded bones and made them 3d, collected all kind of natural goodies to arrange composition .

I love Impasto paints have nice collection of them but all in neutral/pastel colors. For pumpkin I needed orange. Luckily I had yellow and full palette of Liquid Acrylics. And by mixing them I got to discover super fun world of colors and finishes. Liquid acrylics are translucent  perfect for wash and glazing techniques and Impasto are heavy opaque and super matt. By mixing them you get cool finishes and shades. On some areas of my pumpkin I did glaze on more liquid acrylics to get ore shiny waxy pumpkin like finish on some areas I added more impasto for mat highlight and finish. To make blood more nasty I did mix gloss soft gel with liquid acrylics what gave me very glossy wet look .

Except couple super cheap Styrofoam pumpkins and couple bones from resin I didn’t use  much more crafty materials some collected dried natural bits and whole lot of fun with paints. I would recommend you to try to stretch your pallets and limit materials and see where it will take you .

Creepy bloody crafts are a vampire theme for me. And I think we have a thing in common with them. It's a passion! For us creative people, this is the desire to create our own masterpiece and be original.

For my obsession chest, I used Impasto for the background and a dry brush with black gesso. For the red spots, I took metallique acrylic paints. And then I added colors with metallique wax.

Hi loVelies

My spooky page is a mix of gesso’s, Art Alchemy Impasto & Liquid Acrylic paints.  I love how when these 3 mediums are layered on the same page you can get the most wonderful & unique finishes that draw your eyes into your artwork.  The Liquid Acrylic paint has a superb shiny almost plastic finish, the Impasto’s are deliciously thick like treacle giving divine texture. Gesso having a very flat chalky finish was just perfect for my spooky, foggy  dusk Halloween eve page.

Creating this spookyart was a real treat as using all the über bright colours made my heart sing!

This was one of my favorite projects, and especially fun since it used sparkly and ghoulish pieces together on a large door shrine. Everything was base coated with Heavy Black Gesso. I used the Checker stencil with Diamond Rings Jewel Paste on the front door and topper. The web and door insert were painted with the Blue Opals Jewel Paste. I stenciled the sides of the shrine using Golden Dust and Crushed Amber Jewel Pastes and the Tapestry Stencil.

The Wings and Bones Mould and resin was perfect for the Skulls and Wings. They were covered with Copper and Gold Metallic Flakes using Gilding Glue. The spiders were also colored with Crushed Amber Jewel Paste, It has amazing glitter qualities. Two Melange Art Pebbles adorn the top spider. They are all put together with 3D Matte Gel.

Can I introduce you to the Count? …or rather his casket. The Count has a guarding eye while he sleeps to keep him safe and unharmed. Besides the eye his casket is decorated with gears, a skull, and bones. While there’s some glittery red blood on the casket, I’m not totally sure this is spooky… A touch eerie, maybe?

For this post I decorated a little wooden casket using different Finnabair mediums. First, I created some texture to the piece using hot glue. I also used glue to mould the embellishments. To adhere everything in place I used Heavy Body Gel.

After it had dried, I painted the casket with black gesso, then with various Art Alchemy paints and then dry brushed some white. I made a glittery “blood” by mixing red glitter to Liquid Acrylic. I finished the piece with some matte wax to make the casket look a bit older.
