Steampunk Sea horse by Kasia Bogatko

Today I have for you a project that combines all my favorite products - waxes, liquid acrylic paints and moulds. I haven't created anything related to the sea for a long time, but it used to be one of my favorite topics. This time I reached for the shape of a seahorse and decided to decorate it only with gears and cogs.

Making of such a project is not difficult, all you need is your favorite shape and some metal, plastic or resin elements. Instead of cogs, they can be flowers, buttons, jewelry, it all depends on you. I used resin cast elements and my favorite moulds from Finnabair. I glued all the elements to the base using 3d matte gel. Finally, here and there I added different sizes of art stones, also gluing them on gel.

Before we start the next stage, it is important that everything is perfectly dry. This time, instead of white or black gesso, I used Impasto paint. This paint gives a perfectly matte and smooth surface, it is a great foundation for further actions. To make the whole background more diverse, I also used Liquid Acrylic paints. Thanks to the addition of water, they filled the cavities, adding more color to them.

Finally, I reached for waxes. Thanks to them all the elements are more emphasized and shiny.

The whole process of creating this project is not difficult and you will find it in my video. I hope you try to do something similar yourself.
