Hello dear Friends!
We don't know about your corner of the world but here in Europe, autumn is definitely in the air.
Olga has outdone herself creating this breathtaking piece that captures this season's atmosphere in the most poetic way...
There is something elusive and magical in late summer evenings.
Something which, through stormy weather, colder winds and rosy sunsets, calls for a change of seasons.
My very first step was preparing a quite large canvas panel by covering it with an abundant coat of Heavy White Gesso. I did it in a rather sloppy manner leaving edges purposefully untouched.
When the primer coat was drying I randomly added the next ingredient – White Crackle Texture Paste - letting both mediums mix with each other. It resulted in a desired look of old peeling paint.
The paper circles were cut out from vintage books and they were attached to the base thanks to 3D Gloss Gel.
The focal image was first glued down with Soft Gel and then, after drying, sprinkled with water to reveal the transfer. I gently rubbed the damp paper with my finger to the moment when the whole image was visible.
I sealed my transfer with the next coat of the same Gel.
When the surface became dry, I stamped along the edges of the photo creating a kind of an unfinished frame.
I also added some vintage paper strips and stained the background with tea stain to obtain an even and distressed look.
I didn’t want my work to be overdetailed so I decided for the delicate lettering in the corners. I used 3D Gloss Gel which I put through the Alpha stencil.
After drying the media, the effect was soft and muted.
I put some pearl paint here and there to accent the stenciled pattern and sprinkled the wet surface with Micro Beads and Mica Flakes in matching colours.
My final step was adding the frame of wire which was strung through a few of Type Writer Words and Numbers. The result turned out to be a nostalgic, earthly toned and a slightly wrecked picture of the upcoming autumn season.
I wish you a sunny and merry late summer weekend!
Olga
